Did you know that the roots of Ashkenazi cuisine are right here, in the heart of Krakow’s Jewish Quarter?
The taste of European Jewish cuisine is absolutely unique and spectacular, unlike anything you have ever tasted in your life! During our tour you will have the opportunity to taste and compare both modern Ashkenazi and Israeli cuisine. Through food, you will understand the history and heritage of the Jews – why Israeli cuisine is so different from European Jews, who invented the Ashkenazi kosher rules , and why the roots of Ashkenazi cuisine can be found in Krakow. The guide will introduce us to several local restaurants and cafes so that we can enjoy excellent food in a small group and learn about Ashkenazi Jewish traditions or customs related to the preparation and consumption of the dishes we sample.
This food walk includes a selection of Israeli mezze, a packed Ashkenazi Jewish lunch consisting of starters and a second course, a unique Polish Jewish dessert and a traditional Jewish vodka. There is definitely no need to eat before the tour, let alone afterward.
